Birthday Cake - Naturally Dyed Alpaca yarn, 4PLY

Birthday Cake is a softly speckled colourway scattered with tiny flashes of coral, blush pink, warm orange, golden yellow and inky blue over a beautifully muted natural base. Playful without being overly bright, the little flecks of colour reveal themselves differently from stitch to stitch.

Dyed by hand in small batches using natural dyes, each skein is completely unique, with subtle variations that are part of the beauty of the natural dyeing process.

This colourway is dyed onto an exceptionally luxurious 100% Imperial Alpaca base. At just 18 microns, Imperial alpaca is finer and softer than baby alpaca, creating an incredibly smooth, soft yarn that feels wonderful next to the skin.

Unlike many alpaca yarns, this base has been spun with a high twist, giving it beautiful stitch definition and a little more structure and body. This helps reduce the characteristic drape or ‘drop’ of alpaca while still retaining its wonderful softness and fluidity.

Natural dyes are taken up particularly softly by this fibre, giving Birthday Cake its delicate, slightly muted character.

Perfect for lightweight jumpers and cardigans, shawls, scarves and other projects where you want exceptional softness with beautiful stitch definition.

Please treat your yarn gently and hand wash in cool water using a pH-neutral wool wash. A small amount of colour release during the first wash is completely normal.

As each skein is individually hand dyed, there will be natural variation between skeins. For larger projects, I recommend alternating skeins to create an even blend of colour.
